Lanka Marine Services (Pvt) Ltd
Lanka Marine Services (Pvt) Ltd (LMS) is the pioneer bunker supplier in Sri Lanka, with expertise in the bunker industry for over two decades. LMS was earlier, owned and operated by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation however further to liberalization of the bunker market in August 2002, LMS was sold to blue chip conglomerate, John Keells Holdings PLC, by the Government of Sri Lanka. Since then LMS has operated as a wholly owned subsidiaryof the John Keells Group.
LMS is currently the market leader commanding a strong position in the industry and maintains a strong network with many physical suppliers around the globe and works closely with established international and local brokers who have espoused their faith in LMS for the quality of product and service rendered to them over many years.LMS has long since established a reputation in the region for being a quality and reliable bunker supplier.
Products Offered
LMS supplies three main grades of bunker fuel HSFO 380 CST, HSFO 180CST and Marine Gas Oil (0.5% Sulphur). In addition to these grades, intermediary grades below HSFO 180 CST are also blended based on customer requirements.
It is noteworthy to state that IFO 380 cSt was first introduced to Sri Lanka by Lanka Marine Services in 2003, which now commands a large market share of the bunker volume in Sri Lanka.
All grades of bunkers supplied in Sri Lanka are guaranteed with the relevant ISO 8217 standard and delivered in compliance with Marpol annexure VI guidelines.
Majority of the bunker supplies take place in and around the Port of Colombo, (Inside port / Off Port Limits (OPL) / Anchorage) however we do supply bunkers in the Ports of Galle, Hambantota and Trincomalee as well. The main mode of bunker supply is via barges, however Tank truck deliveries also take place to areas which cannot be approached by barge. Kankasanthurai is a new port which we have commenced bunker supplies via tank trucks.
We currently operate 3 barges which are utilized for all our deliveries and all our barges are classed with IACS (International Association of Certified Surveyors).
Services Offered
LMS is also the sole stockist and delivery agent for eight Marine Lubricant Principals in Sri Lanka, namely BP, Castrol, Mobil, Feoso, Agean, Total, Gulf, and FAMM. LMS has held this unique position for over a decade and has been successful in enhancing the service standards and health and safety aspects of our business through the long term association with the aforementioned reputed Oil majors.
Ancillary Services
LMS is also equipped to carry water, provisions, facilitate crew transfers at OPL and anchorage and is also the only physical supplier who has taken on many de-bunkering operations; due to the extensive fleet of barges in operation.
HSE (Health/ safety/Environment)
LMS houses a separate Engineering and HSE department overlooking all aspects of health, safety and environment of the company and emphasizes on following all processes and procedures in line with Industry best practices.
