As a result of Travelife audit recently conducted, the following Hotels have achieved the following Travelife level: “GOLD Award”.

The successful achievement of “Travelife Gold” by all three Chaaya Properties in Maldives is indeed a privilege and honour for us as “Gold award” is the most prestigious among Travelife awards as at present.
Audits happened on 22nd , 31st October and 1st November at our resorts as a part of the 15 resort audits carried out in the Maldives. The auditor quoted that “I believe you are really working on sustainability and you really deserve the results. I am off to London now, I haven’t be able to upload any other resort yet”. This proves that he was confident with the work Maldivian Chaaya Resorts are doing, which made him to finalize his decision comfortably with compared to the other resorts.
Travelife is an industry-led sustainability scheme which works in partnership with European trade associations and tour operators in Europe to create a real awareness within the travel industry. It is a subsidiary of ABTA, the leading UK travel trade association, which represents 950 travel agents and 750 tour operators throughout the British Isles. Travelife is recognized in line with the robust requirements of the “Global Sustainable Tourism Council” assuring that Travelife-awarded hotels are working to deliver more sustainable outcomes. Travelife now have more than 1000 subscribed resorts (With compared to Green Globe’s 400+), and it will become a mandatory certification by many leading travel agents, in a time to come.
Major tour agencies are driving forward with Travelife certification, and its evident in their reports.
Thomas Cook Group signed up to the Travelife scheme in 2011 and is a key member of the Steering Committee. The strong drive towards travelife certification can be demonstrated by the attached section of its 2012 Sustainability report. Further, the communication TUI Travel PLC has done on Travelife is demonstrated below.
