The first day of work for the year 2021 was marked as usual by the lighting of the oil lamp at the Head Office upholding our traditions despite the challenges of the new normal, and was conducted in accordance with health and safety guidelines maintaining social distancing.
Chairperson Krishan Balendra was joined by Deputy Chairperson and Group Finance Director Gihan Cooray and the 2 members of the Group Executive Committee present at Head Office – Suresh Rajendra, President – Leisure Group, and Nadija Tambiah, President – Legal, Secretarial, and Corporate Social Responsibility, to light the lamp, which was telecast to all staff via a virtual event.
The lighting of the oil lamp was followed by the Chairperson’s New Year address as part of the live virtual event.
